The Nasdaq-100 entered June 2026 with powerful momentum behind technology and semiconductor stocks. After gaining 10.5% in May, the index continued higher as investors remained focused on artificial intelligence, strong corporate earnings, and heavy capital spending across the technology sector.
By the end of the second quarter, the Nasdaq-100 had delivered one of its strongest quarterly performances in decades, gaining roughly 28% in Q2. Semiconductor stocks were a major driver, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index recording its strongest quarter since its inception.
AI Remained the Main Engine
The market continued to reward companies tied to AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and semiconductors.
Strong earnings across the Nasdaq-100 helped support that move. Going into June, 88 of 97 Nasdaq-100 companies that had reported results beat earnings expectations, with aggregate earnings growth remaining exceptionally strong.
This mattered because the rally was increasingly supported by actual earnings rather than AI enthusiasm alone.
For Nasdaq-100 Micro traders, that gave the underlying trend a solid fundamental foundation.
The Fed Added a Layer of Risk
The Federal Reserve kept its target rate at 3.50%–3.75% on June 17, noting that economic activity remained solid while inflation was still above its 2% goal. The Fed also highlighted uncertainty related to energy prices and geopolitical developments.
Higher-for-longer rates can create pressure on growth stocks because technology valuations are particularly sensitive to interest rates.
Yet the Nasdaq continued to show resilience.
That suggested investors were willing to tolerate restrictive monetary policy as long as earnings growth, AI investment, and capital spending remained strong.
Strong Trend, Higher Risk
By mid-June, the Nasdaq-100 was trading above 30,000, reflecting the strength of the advance.
But after such a sharp second-quarter rally, traders also needed to respect the risk of a pullback.
Strong markets can remain overbought longer than expected, but chasing extended moves usually produces poor risk-to-reward setups. A controlled pullback that holds support or a fresh breakout with price confirmation would offer a cleaner entry than buying simply because the market is making new highs.
June Trading View
The Nasdaq-100 Micro remained one of the stronger futures markets in June 2026.
AI investment, semiconductor leadership, strong earnings, and continued capital spending supported the bullish case. The main risks were elevated valuations, persistent inflation, and the possibility that higher interest rates could eventually slow momentum.
Outlook: Bullish, but avoid chasing an extended rally.
As long as the Nasdaq-100 continues holding key support and price confirms the broader uptrend, NM remains a market where the bulls have the advantage.
